Apple Harvest- picking season nearly finished.

What a year, now up to the fourth flood and maybe more rain coming. The ground is saturated and we still haven’t been able to get an excavator to repair the spillway which handles the overflow from the dam. Consequently the existing pathway is extremely eroded and is really now a separate valley. We have bought gabions and metal mattresses which will be filled with rocks and placed along this valley floor over a porous fabric. but we can only start this work when we get an excavator as a lot of earth and logs need to be moved as well as heavy rocks put in place. I have attached a few photos

About Denis Buchanan

Once upon a time I was a Chemical Engineer now I am a born again Farmer. The transition was really quite easy with the major change that the life of feasibility studies has ended and any experiment that I wish to undertake is at my peril.
