Bushfires – Scamander\
It is definitely looking like a hot summer. We at Eureka Farm have done a lot of work with back burning around our house. However I don’t think their is a limit to how prepared you have to be especially when you are surrounded by State Forest.
Yesterday we had a first bushfire in the area when a bushfire started in the Scamander Sanctuary. The brigades from Scamander, St. Helens, Falmouth and St. Marys worked together with support with water bombing from a helicopter. These guys performed back burns as the fire approached houses in Dune Street. The tea tree was very dry and it was easy to see how quickly a fire can start when you saw the bush catch fire from the back burns. The teams worked together very well and should be congratulated on their efforts.
