Our time is up
Hi folks,. before I go on let me wish all of our friends and customers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
At Eureka Farm we have always made our way in order to offer our guests the best possible service. In all we have been operating for abut 29 years and seen a lot of changes. There was no farm when we started just a house and a lot of bush. Mostly we have been growing berries and other fruits. In the early days there were many shops that we supplied with our fruits. In addition we started value adding with a range of sauces, jams and desserts. We also started a cafe and restaurant. The restaurant has now gone. We were the first ot sell espresso coffee and a range of fruity cakes for desserts.
Many of these activities were challenging and a few were failures. For example fruit wine making did not succeed. However our ice cream won Tasmania’s best ice cream and has been a magnet for many over the years.
But this is not just a message bragging about our successes. We think the time has come to start withdrawing from our many dimensioned world. We had thought about selling but at this stage are not sure if someone would want to take up the business and grow it to the next level. What we do know if we are fortunate to live where we are and would probably have a great deal of difficulty finding something just as nice.
So we intend to close the cafe to coffee and desserts at the end of this season. We will also stop making ice cream and desserts. We do intend to continue our manufacturing and wholesaling of our preserves. We do intend to provide some ways that our customers can still get these products but the shop will not be open often.
We will sell the ice cream machine and the technology we developed to make our special fruity ice creams.
Our exit strategy is still not well developed and we are still open to suggestions.
