Strawberries
first fruits of the season are always strawberries. We have two patches 2,000 in an old area and another 4,000 across the river. We call it a river although most of the time it is dry. This new patch is land that was cleared after the bushfire for which i will be creating a slideshow presentation to give viewers some indication just how devastating it was to every one in this area. ( that was 2006).
The new patch is growing well and the first strawbs look great. Spring has been a little slow coming this year with lots of cold bouts in between dashes of rain. God news is I haven’t needed to irrigate but the downside is that fungal sprays have been necessary for stonefruits. Lots of aphids this year. Some plum trees were almost devatated. Usually I don’t need to do much for these aphids as ladybirds ususally clean them up quickly. Not this year. Â As you can see they are a pretty little beetle.
